Sound Familiar?

ADHD care shouldn’t feel like another thing you have to fight for.

🚪

“We don’t really do ADHD evaluations here”

Your PCP won’t touch it. The psychiatrist is a 4-month wait. The telehealth app runs a checkbox quiz and calls it a diagnosis.

🗓️

“Let’s revisit in 3 months.”

Handed a script and told to come back in 3 months. If the dose isn’t right or side effects hit, you’re on your own until then.

📵

There is no safety net.

A side effect hits or the plan isn’t working — and you’re stuck with portal messages, voicemails, and call centers instead of actual help.

Frequently Asked Questions

Getting Started

Our ADHD program is exclusively for adults ages 18 and older. While CompassMD does provide primary care for children and families, we do not evaluate or treat minors for ADHD.
No referral is needed. You can schedule your evaluation directly with us. Because CompassMD is a Direct Primary Care practice, there is no insurance red tape or gatekeeping to get started.
Most patients are seen within the same week. Compare that to the standard 3-to-6-month waitlists for psychiatrists in the Milwaukee area!
Your first visit will be in person at our Wauwatosa, WI office so we can get to know you and do a thorough initial evaluation. After that, many follow-ups and routine check-ins can be handled virtually so you get ongoing care without disrupting your schedule.

Evaluation & Treatment

Yes. Board-certified family physicians are highly trained to evaluate and manage adult ADHD. In fact, seeing a family physician is often beneficial because we look at your whole-body health. Dr. Ferra uses standardized, evidence-based screening tools, takes a thorough psychiatric and clinical history, and carefully rules out other conditions—the exact same rigorous process a psychiatrist follows.
We dedicate real time to your first visit to make sure we get the full picture. This includes:
  • Standardized, evidence-based screening tools.
  • A deep dive into your childhood and adult symptom history, and how ADHD affects your daily life.
  • Input from a partner, parent, or close friend (when available and helpful).
  • A physical exam and baseline labs to rule out medical conditions that mimic ADHD (such as thyroid issues, iron deficiency, or sleep disorders).
Absolutely. Whether you were diagnosed years ago or recently, we can review your current treatment, reassess your symptoms, and build a plan that actually works for where you are now. Many of our patients come to us because they felt rushed, unheard, or undertreated by previous providers.

Pricing & Insurance

CompassMD is a cash-pay practice, which means we don’t bill insurance directly. The upside? No prior authorizations, no rushed visits, and no surprise bills. Dr. Ferra works directly for you and makes treatment decisions based purely on your clinical needs—not what an insurance company approves. If you’d like to seek out-of-network reimbursement, we’re happy to provide a superbill you can submit to your insurer. And your regular health insurance or GoodRx can still be used to cover medication costs at the pharmacy.
ADHD care at CompassMD has two components:
  • Initial evaluation ($99): A one-time fee that covers your comprehensive ADHD evaluation.
  • Monthly membership ($75/mo): Covers all follow-up visits, direct doctor access, medication management, and full primary care. No long-term contracts. Cancel anytime.

Your first month totals $174 ($99 evaluation + $75 membership), then $75/mo ongoing.

If your evaluation determines that your symptoms aren’t caused by ADHD, or that your situation requires a specialized psychiatrist, we’ll discuss the best next steps and make sure you’re pointed in the right direction. Your $99 evaluation fee covers the visit regardless of outcome — there’s no additional charge.
No. Your membership covers all visits, direct doctor access, and prescription management. Medications are paid directly to your pharmacy — your regular insurance or GoodRx can help cover those costs. For baseline labs and drug screens, we offer discounted cash pricing, or we can route them to a local lab to be billed to your health insurance.
Yes. Your evaluation fee and monthly membership are both eligible HSA/FSA expenses. We provide documentation for reimbursement.

Prescribing & Safety Policies

Treatment is always based on clinical findings, and a prescription is never guaranteed simply by booking an evaluation. If medication is appropriate, Dr. Ferra will safely manage prescribing FDA-approved options (stimulant or non-stimulant). Because most patients benefit from a combined approach, we may also optimize lifestyle habits and provide priority referrals to our trusted local network of therapists.
We highly value a collaborative approach and welcome your input regarding what has or hasn’t worked for you in the past! However, all final prescribing decisions are made strictly at Dr. Ferra’s clinical discretion based on your medical history, symptoms, and safety risk factors. We do not prescribe controlled medications based solely on patient requests.
Yes. A baseline urine drug screen is required at the start of treatment, and routine screens are repeated every 3–6 months. Dr. Ferra may also request a random test at any time. This is a standard, non-negotiable safety measure required for responsible controlled-substance prescribing.
No. Patient safety comes first. Depending on your individual situation, Dr. Ferra may recommend highly effective non-stimulant medication options, or refer you to a specialized psychiatrist expertly equipped to safely manage co-occurring substance use and ADHD.
